Kudos are the public thank yous at the heart of Matter: a teammate picks a kudos template, writes a message, adds coins if your plan includes them, and the kudos is posted in your Slack or Microsoft Teams channel for everyone to see.
Who can use this: Kudos are included on every Matter plan, including Free. Custom kudos templates are on the Basic plan and above, and coins with kudos are on Pro and above. Anyone in the Matter channel can send and receive kudos; workspace Owners and Admins manage templates and permissions.

What are kudos?
A kudos is recognition delivered on a card, like a greeting card, inside the channel where your team already works. Every kudos has a template (the card design and title, such as Team player or Thank you), a message from the giver, one or more recipients, and optionally coins the recipients can redeem for rewards.
Kudos can be public in the channel, private between the giver and the recipient, or sent to everyone in the channel at once.
Why kudos with Matter
Where people already are: kudos are given and seen in Slack or Microsoft Teams, from the channel, the Matter Home tab, the Give Kudos shortcut in Slack's / menu, or the web app. No new app to open.
Templates that carry your values: start with ten ready made templates, then add your own for company values, team in jokes, and milestones, with your colors and an image or GIF.
Recognition that adds up: every kudos can carry coins, feeds Feedback Friday and the recap, and shows up in analytics and each person's activity history.
Permissions you control: decide who can send private kudos, who can send kudos to everyone, who can create templates, and which templates are Admin only.
How kudos work
1. Send a kudos
Pick a template, choose one or more people, write a message, add coins if you have them, and send. You can send from the channel, the Matter Home tab, or the web app, and to anyone in the Matter channel.

2. Send kudos to a whole team or to everyone
Give Kudos to All sends one kudos to everyone in the channel, for company milestones, recognition day or a holiday thank you. In Microsoft Teams you can also send a kudos to a team or department.

3. Set up your templates
Matter ships with ten default templates. Admins can add custom templates with your own title, colors, and image, delete templates you do not want, and reserve some templates for Admins.

4. Decide who can do what
By default everyone can send private kudos, send kudos to all, and create custom templates. Private kudos and kudos to all can be limited to Admins Only or turned off; creating templates can be limited to Admins Only.

5. Look back at what was given
Every member can see the kudos they have given and received, filter by date, person, or template, and download the history.

6. Tidy up when needed
Admins can delete a kudos post that was sent by mistake, in either platform.

FAQs
Can I see every kudos I have given or received?
Yes. Every member can see the kudos they have given and received in the web app under Feedback, then Activity, with filters and a download. Viewing kudos activity history
Which plans include kudos?
All of them, including Free. Custom templates need Basic or above, and coins with kudos need Pro or above.
Can a kudos be edited or taken back after it is sent?
No. A sent kudos cannot be edited or recalled by the giver. If it went to the wrong person, a workspace Owner or Admin can delete the kudos from Matter, which removes it from activity history and reports; the post in Slack or Teams stays until someone deletes it there, and any coins attached stay with the recipient unless an Admin adjusts their balance. Then send a new kudos. In Slack only Workspace Owners and Admins can delete MatterBot posts; in Microsoft Teams a Teams admin must first allow deleting bot messages. Do kudos and coins work for a team spread across countries?
Yes. A workspace has one base currency for coin values (10 coins equal one unit of USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF, or SGD), and when a member redeems, the rewards store shows gift cards and other options for their own country, with 3,500+ options across 200+ countries. Can I send kudos between Slack and Microsoft Teams?
A Matter workspace runs in one platform at a time, Slack or Microsoft Teams, and kudos go to people in that workspace's Matter channel. If your company is moving from one to the other, Matter can migrate the workspace. Migrating Matter between Slack and Microsoft Teams
Why did my kudos not post in the channel?
Usually because it was a private kudos (those go to a direct message), MatterBot was removed from the Slack channel, Matter was blocked or removed in Microsoft Teams, or the recipient is not in the Matter channel. Kudos not posting in Slack or Microsoft Teams
The kudos posted but the coins did not arrive. Why?
Most often Coin Monitoring reduced the coins because the giver had already sent that person the maximum for the period; the giver gets a direct message saying so. Kudos posted but the coins did not arrive
