Feedback Friday is Matter's weekly recognition ritual: one day a week, Matter reminds everyone in your Slack or Microsoft Teams channel to send kudos and feedback, then closes the day with a recap and a most valuable participant.
Who can use this: Feedback Friday is included on every Matter plan, including Free, where you can choose the day and frequency. Renaming it and changing messages, times, reminders, and the MVP need the Basic plan or above. Workspace Owners and Admins set it up in the web app; everyone in the Matter channel takes part.

What is Feedback Friday?
Most teams want to recognize each other and simply forget. Feedback Friday fixes that with a rhythm. On the day you choose, Matter posts a kickoff message in the channel, a mid day reminder, a last call, and a recap that celebrates everyone who took part and names a most valuable participant. People give kudos the same way they do on any other day; the ritual just makes sure it happens.

How Feedback Friday works
1. Turn it on and pick the day
Feedback Friday is on by default, weekly on Friday. Change the day, or run it every two weeks, every three weeks, or monthly, under Settings, then Feedback Friday in the web app.

2. Give it your name and your voice
Rename the ritual (the default name follows the day, so Thursday becomes Thankful Thursday) and rewrite the kickoff, mid day, last call, and recap messages to sound like your company. In Slack you can also drop the @here mentions.

3. Set the times
By default the kickoff goes out at 10 am, the mid day reminder at 1 pm, last call at 3:45 pm and the recap at 4 pm, in your workspace time zone. Move any of them, or turn individual reminders off, for distributed teams or unusual hours.

4. The day runs itself
Matter posts the messages, people send kudos in the channel, and the recap celebrates everyone who took part. On Slack, a stats message follows at 10 am on the next business day.

5. Celebrate the most valuable participant
The MVP is picked at random from the people who gave the most kudos and the people who received the most. Admins can leave specific people out of the draw (leadership, for example) and attach coins to the title.

Terms to know
Kickoff, mid day, last call, recap: the four messages Matter posts during the day. Each can be edited, retimed, or (apart from the kickoff) turned off.
Stats message: an optional Slack only message, sent at 10 am on the next business day, that highlights the kudos with the most emoji reactions. It can be turned on or off but not edited.
Most valuable participant (MVP): the person celebrated in the recap, drawn from the top givers and top receivers.
Frequency: how often the ritual runs: weekly, every two weeks, every three weeks, or monthly.
FAQs
Can we run it on a different day?
Yes, any day of the week. The default name changes to match (Motivation Monday, Thank You Tuesday, Winning Wednesday, Thankful Thursday) and you can pick your own name too. Change the name of Feedback Friday
Can we run it less often than weekly?
Yes: every two weeks, every three weeks, or monthly. Weekly is the default and what most teams keep. All customizations and settings for Feedback Friday
Our team is in several time zones. Who gets the messages when?
Messages go out at the times you set, in the workspace time zone. Spread them out, or move the kickoff earlier and the last call later, so every region sees them during its working day. Change Feedback Friday message delivery times
The messages are too noisy. Can we trim them?
Yes. Turn off the mid day reminder, last call, or recap individually, shorten the text, and in Slack remove the @here mentions.
How is the MVP chosen, and can we keep managers out of it?
