You can move your existing Matter installation to a new Slack channel or Microsoft Teams channel. Create the destination channel, type the transfer command there, then pick the source channel and click Transfer. In Teams, you can only transfer Matter to another channel within the same team, not to a channel in a different team.
Who can use this: Workspace Owners and Admins on every plan. Works for Slack and Microsoft Teams workspaces, with slightly different steps for each.
For an overview of the whole feature, read the Matter setup and rollout guide for Slack and Microsoft Teams. Related articles: Matter slash commands not appearing in Slack and How to recover a deleted Microsoft Teams channel.
Before you start
Identify two channels:
Source Channel: the channel where Matter is currently installed.
Destination Channel: the channel you want to transfer your existing Matter installation to. The destination channel needs to exist before you start the transfer.
Once you've identified your source channel and created your destination channel, follow the steps for your platform.
Transfer Matter to a new channel in Slack
1. Go to the destination channel and type @MatterBot transfer. If @MatterBot has not already been added to the channel, invite @MatterBot first.
2. Click Start Channel Transfer.
3. Select your existing Matter channel (the source channel) and click Continue.
4. Confirm your source channel and destination channel are correct, then click Transfer to complete the transfer.

Transfer Matter to a new channel in Microsoft Teams
Note: You can transfer Matter to another channel within the same team. You cannot transfer Matter to a channel in a different team.
1. Go to the destination channel and type @Matter transfer.
2. Click Start Channel Transfer.
3. Confirm your existing Matter channel (the source channel) and click Transfer.
4. Make sure your destination channel has a Matter Tab. If you don't see one, click + and install Matter. This only installs the Matter Tab and does not disrupt your installation.
If you plan to keep your source channel, you can now safely delete the Matter Tab in the source channel.

Confirm the transfer worked
Send a kudos in the destination channel. If the transfer was successful, you'll see the kudos appear in the destination channel.
