If your Matter channel, or the whole team it lives in, was deleted in Microsoft Teams, you can restore it for up to 30 days. A team owner restores a deleted channel from Manage team; a Microsoft 365 or Teams admin restores a deleted team from the admin center. Once it is back, send a test kudos to confirm Matter is working.
Who can use this: Team owners in Microsoft Teams (to restore a channel) or your Microsoft 365 or Teams admin (to restore a team), on every Matter plan. Microsoft Teams only.

First, check what was deleted
The team still exists but the Matter channel is gone: restore the channel (a team owner can do this).
The whole team is gone from your Teams list: restore the team (an admin has to do this). Restoring the team brings back its standard and private channels too.
Both have to happen within 30 days of the deletion. After that, Microsoft deletes them permanently and they cannot be restored.
Restore a deleted channel
In Microsoft Teams, find the team the Matter channel was in, select More options (the three dots) next to the team name, then select Manage team.
Open the Channels tab.
Show the deleted channels: expand Deleted, or use the channel filter and select Deleted, depending on your version of Teams.
Select Restore next to the Matter channel.
Restore a deleted team
An admin can restore a deleted team from either admin center. It can take up to 24 hours for the restored team to appear in Teams.
From the Microsoft Teams admin center
Go to the Microsoft Teams admin center, then Teams, then Manage teams.
Select View deleted teams in the top right.
Select the team and select Restore. If it does not appear in the Manage teams list right away, select Refresh.
From the Microsoft 365 admin center
Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Expand Groups, then select Deleted groups.
Select the team's group and select Restore group.
Check that Matter is working
Send a kudos in the restored channel. If it appears there, Matter is working again. If the restore window has passed, install Matter in a new channel and email support@matterapp.com so we can help you set it up.
