Preventing accidental channel deletion in Microsoft Teams

Protect your Matter channel in Microsoft Teams: in Manage Team, Settings, Member permissions, uncheck 'Allow members to delete and restore channels'.

Written by Brett Hellman

By default, Microsoft Teams grants many permissions to team members, such as the ability to delete a channel. This could lead to an accidental deletion of important channels, like your Matter channel. In this article, we will outline a recommended setting for team owners to restrict channel deletion permissions.

Who can use this: Workspace Owners and Admins on every plan. Microsoft Teams only.

How to limit team members from deleting a channel:

Step 1: Click on the three dots next to the Team Name, then click on "Manage Team"
