You can move your existing Matter installation to a new Microsoft Teams channel without losing any history. Create the destination channel, type @Matter transfer there, then confirm the source channel and click Transfer. You can only transfer Matter to another channel within the same team, not to a channel in a different team.
Who can use this: Workspace Owners and Admins on every plan. Microsoft Teams only. Using Slack? See Transfer Matter to a new channel in Slack.

Before you start
Identify two channels:
Source Channel: the channel where Matter is currently installed.
Destination Channel: the channel you want to transfer your existing Matter installation to. The destination channel needs to exist before you start the transfer.
Once you've identified your source channel and created your destination channel, follow the steps below.
Transfer Matter to the new channel
Note: You can transfer Matter to another channel within the same team. You cannot transfer Matter to a channel in a different team.
Go to the destination channel and type
@Matter transfer.Click Start Channel Transfer.
Confirm your existing Matter channel (the source channel) and click Transfer.
Make sure your destination channel has a Matter Tab. If you don't see one, click + and install Matter. This only installs the Matter Tab and does not disrupt your installation.
If you plan to keep your source channel, you can now safely delete the Matter Tab in the source channel.
To keep your new channel safe, read Preventing accidental channel deletion in Microsoft Teams.
Confirm the transfer worked
Send a kudos in the destination channel. If the transfer was successful, you'll see the kudos appear in the destination channel.
