Overview

When creating an Employee Survey on Matter, you have a variety of question types to choose from. Each type can be customized to meet the specific needs of your employee survey, ensuring you collect the data you need in the most effective way possible. Below, we outline the available question types, as well as additional settings and constraints to consider when designing your survey.

Available Question Types

1. Text

Description: Allows respondents to provide open-ended answers. Best for collecting detailed feedback or explanations.

Options: Can be set as required or optional. Comments are not applicable as responses are inherently open.

2. Multiple Choice

Description: Let respondents choose from a list of predefined options. Suitable for questions with a set number of responses.

Options: Can be set as required. "Enable comments" can be toggled on to allow respondents to provide additional context to their choices.

3. Agree/Disagree

Description: Typically used for attitudinal questions where respondents express their level of agreement with a statement, using a rating scale from "Strongly Agree" to "Strongly Disagree."

Options: Can be set as required. "Enable comments" can be toggled on, providing a space for respondents to elaborate on their viewpoints.

4. eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score)

Description: Measures employee loyalty and sentiment towards the company. Respondents are asked how likely they are to recommend the company as a place to work. Each employee survey can include a maximum of one eNPS question.

Options: Can be set as required. "Enable comments" can be toggled on to gather insights into the reasons behind the scores given by the employees.

Additional Settings

Requirement Toggle

For all question types, you have the option to make questions required. The default setting is off, meaning questions are optional unless this setting is changed.

Enable Comments

For all question types except Text, you can enable an option for comments. This allows respondents to add additional text to explain their answers, providing richer data. By default, this setting is disabled.

Employee Survey Design Limitations

Maximum Number of Questions

Each employee survey is limited to a maximum of 20 questions. This limit is in place due to constraints on the Slack and Microsoft Teams platforms and helps to prevent survey fatigue among recipients. Keeping surveys concise also helps ensure a higher completion rate.

Editing Flexibility

In the Employee Survey form builder, you can reorder and delete questions as needed before launching your survey. However, it is important to note that once a survey has been launched, questions cannot be edited. This is to maintain the integrity and consistency of the survey data.

By understanding and utilizing these question types and options effectively, you can design surveys that are both engaging and insightful, helping you gather valuable feedback from your team or audience.
