Where to put your recognition QR codes and link

Learn where to put recognition QR codes in hospitals, hotels, stores, and warehouses, how to print them, and where to share each code's link.

Written by Brett Hellman

Matter QR Codes work best where people already pause, like a front desk, a break room, or a waiting area. Admins download each code from the Matter Web App, and every code has its own link for places a printed code can't go, like post-visit emails and texts.

💡 New to QR Codes? Start with the QR Codes Guide. To make a code first, see Creating a recognition QR code.

The Your Code card, with the QR code, Download QR Image, the code's link, Copy Link, and Try It Live

Download and print your code

  1. In the Web App, go to Recognition Manager, then QR Codes, and open the code.

  2. On the Your Code card, click Download QR Image.

  3. You get a 2048 pixel PNG and an SVG of the code, each with white space around it and named after the code.

Use the SVG for print shops and large signs, and the PNG for documents, slides, and email. Scan your printed copy with a phone before you put it up.

Share the link

Every code has a permanent link: matterapp.com/recognize/ plus 6 characters. On the Your Code card, click Copy Link. Opening the link works just like scanning the code.

Add the link anywhere a code can't go:

  • Post-visit emails and texts

  • Surveys and feedback forms

  • Your website

  • Messages to your team in Slack or Microsoft Teams

Ideas by industry

  • Hospitals: nurse stations, patient room whiteboards, and discharge packets.

  • Hotels and retail: front desks, key card sleeves, table tents, and receipts.

  • Warehouses and fleets: break rooms, time clocks, and delivery vans.

  • Offices and teams: break rooms, huddle boards, and workstations.

One code for each place

Make one code for each place, like each nurse station or front desk, and name the code after it. One code covers everyone who works there, so you don't need a code for every employee. Several codes can post to the same channel, and each one shows its own scans and recognition.

Tips for more scans

  • Put the code at eye level, where people wait or take a break.

  • Add a short line that says what it's for, like "Want to thank someone who helped you? Scan here."

  • Use a guest code where customers, patients, or visitors will see it, and an employee code where only your team will.

  • In patient or customer areas, turn on the private details setting. Learn more in Keeping private details out of guest kudos.

  • Try it yourself with Try It Live before you share it, so you know what people will see.

FAQs

Q: Do I need to reprint a code after I edit it?

No. Editing a code never changes its link or QR code, so printed copies keep working.

Q: Should I use the PNG or the SVG?

Use the SVG for print shops and large signs, since it stays sharp at any size. Use the PNG for documents, slides, and email.

Q: Do we need a code for every employee?

No. One code for each place covers everyone who works there. Guests and teammates pick who they're thanking by name.

Q: What happens to printed codes if we pause one?

Anyone who scans it sees "This Code Is Turned Off" until you turn it back on. Turning it back on makes the same printed code work again. Learn how in Managing your recognition QR codes.
