Brand Kit is where admins add their company logos and brand colors to Matter, the employee recognition app for Slack and Microsoft Teams. Set it up once in the Matter Web App under Settings, then Brand Kit. It's included on the Basic, Pro, and Enterprise plans, and Matter uses it on your QR codes, the page people see after they scan one, and your company swag.
Who can use this: Workspace Owners and Admins on the Basic plan and above, or on any plan during the free trial. Works the same for Slack and Microsoft Teams workspaces.
Set up your Brand Kit
Open the Web App.
Go to Settings, then Brand Kit.
Under Start from Your Website, enter your web address, like yourcompany.com, and click Find My Brand. Matter fills in any logo or color that's still empty.
Check what Matter found. Upload, replace, or remove any logo, and change any color.
Click Save. You'll see "Brand Kit saved."
You can skip Find My Brand and add your logos and colors yourself.
How Find My Brand works
Find My Brand only fills in logos and colors that are still empty. It never replaces one you already added. To change a logo or color, use Replace, Change, or Remove on that field.
If Matter can't read your site, you'll see "We could not read yourcompany.com. Check the address, or add your logo and colors below." Check the address, or add your logo and colors yourself.
Choose your Square Mark and Wide Logo
Square Mark: a bold, dark version of your logo, like your app icon. It shows in the center of your QR codes and at the top of public pages. A logo that isn't square is centered in a square, never stretched or cropped, but it will look small on QR codes.
Wide Logo: your full company logo, on a clear or white background.
Your Brand Kit logos are separate from your workspace picture. The workspace picture is your channel avatar in Slack or Microsoft Teams, and you change it in Settings, then General.
Choose your Brand Color and Background Tint
Brand Color: buttons, links, and highlights.
Background Tint: the soft background behind your logo on public pages.
Matter picks the text color that goes on top so words stay readable. Until you pick colors, your pages use Matter's default colors.
Where your brand shows
QR codes: your Square Mark sits in the center of every code. Learn more in Adding your logo and brand color to QR codes.
Public pages: the page people see after they scan a QR code to give kudos shows your Square Mark, your company name, and your colors. See it in How guests thank your team with a QR code.
Swag: your logo goes on shirts, bottles, notebooks, and more. Learn more in Branded company swag.
When you save, pages use your updated brand right away. QR codes and swag you already printed don't change.
Logo file requirements
Square Mark: PNG or SVG, square, at least 512 by 512 pixels, 5 MB or smaller.
Wide Logo: PNG or SVG, at least 1000 pixels wide, 5 MB or smaller.
Note: if a file doesn't meet these requirements, the message under the field says what to change, like "That image is 240 by 240px. Upload one at least 512px on each side." Your current logo stays in place until a new one passes.
Note: a light logo on a clear or white background gets a warning, since it's hard to see on white. You can keep it and still save.
FAQs
Who can change our company logo in Matter?
Workspace Owners and Admins, in Settings, then Brand Kit.
Which Matter plans include Brand Kit?
Basic, Pro, and Enterprise, and every plan during the free trial.
Does Find My Brand replace logos I already uploaded?
No. It only fills in fields that are still empty. Use Replace, Change, or Remove to update one.
What file types and sizes does Brand Kit accept?
PNG and SVG files of 5 MB or less. The Square Mark must be at least 512 pixels on each side, and the Wide Logo at least 1000 pixels wide. JPG, HEIC, WEBP, GIF, and PDF files don't work here.
What happens if I don't set up a Brand Kit?
Matter uses its own colors, and QR codes show the Matter M in the center. Your company name still shows on public pages.
Do printed QR codes or swag change when I update my Brand Kit?
No. They keep the logo they were printed with. To show your new logo, download and print the code again, or order new swag.
