While recognition should be inclusive, we understand that coin budgets sometimes need guardrails. With Coin Eligibility settings, you can include everyone in your recognition program — while limiting who can send or receive coins.

💡 Kudos are never restricted. Even excluded users can still give and receive kudos.

When Should You Exclude Users?

You may want to exclude users from coins if they:

  • Are contractors or vendors

  • Are interns or temporary employees

  • Should not participate in monetary-based rewards

  • Are part-time or seasonal staff

Instead of removing them from Matter entirely, you can simply adjust their coin eligibility.

How Coin Eligibility Works

Coin Eligibility settings allow you to:

  • Prevent users from giving coins

  • Prevent users from receiving coins

  • Apply exclusions to individual members or entire groups

These settings apply to:

  • All rewards activity

  • Allowances

  • Bulk adjustments

  • Admin actions

If someone is excluded from receiving coins, any coins sent to them will automatically be returned to the sender.

Exclude Users from Giving or Receiving Coins

  1. Open the Web App.

  2. Go to Settings, then to the Rewards section.

  3. Click Add Member to add members and/or groups to the respective section.

  4. To remove, simply click Remove next to the respective member or group.
