With Matter QR Codes, every note from a guest code waits for a reviewer. Reviewers approve or decline it in Slack, Microsoft Teams, or the Matter Web App, and approved notes post to the code's channel.
💡 New to QR Codes? Start with the QR Codes Guide. Admins choose each guest code's reviewers when they create or edit it. Reviewers don't need to be Matter admins.
When you're asked to review
When a guest sends a note, every reviewer on that code gets a message from Matter: "New recognition is waiting for your review". It shows who the note is from, who it's for, what they wrote, the code it came from, and the channel it will post to. Tap Review to open the note, or Decline.
Matter admins can also review in the Web App: go to Recognition Manager, then QR Codes. Notes waiting for you are under Recognition to Review, on the Pending tab. Click Review.
Review the note
Review Recognition shows:
From: the guest's signature, like "Linda Park · Guest", or "Guest · Not signed".
For: who the guest picked, with each person's email so you can check it's the right person. Add or remove people here.
What They Wrote: the guest's message. Edit the wording if anything shouldn't be public. Messages are 3 to 600 characters.
Add Coins (optional, Pro and Enterprise): the coins each person gets, up to the most the code allows. Leave it empty to add none.
When the guest didn't pick a name
If the guest typed a description instead of picking someone, you'll see "We couldn't match this to a person. Pick who they mean before you approve." The guest's description shows under How They Were Described. Pick the person under For, then approve. To see what guests see, read How guests thank your team with a QR code.
Flags
Matter flags notes with a phone number, an email address, a link, or profanity, for example "Contains a phone number and a link. Check before it posts." Flags never stop you from approving. They point out what to check.
Approve & Post or Decline
Approve & Post posts the note to the code's channel and mentions each person thanked. Your message from Matter updates to "Recognition approved and posted", with View Post to open it in the channel.
Decline asks for a reason: Names another patient or customer, Not about a specific person, Not appropriate to post, or Duplicate. You can add a note for your records. Nothing is posted, and the guest isn't notified.
When another reviewer acts first
The first reviewer to approve or decline decides. The note posts once, coins are added once, and a declined note never posts.
Everyone else's message from Matter updates in place, with no buttons and no new notification, and shows who acted, for example "Jamie Reyes approved this at 9:43 AM and added 100 coins."
If you still have the note open, or tap an old message, you'll see Already Reviewed with who acted and when, and "Your changes weren't saved." Tap Close.
In the Web App, the note leaves everyone's Recognition to Review list.
With the private details setting on
If the code keeps recognition messages out of Slack or Microsoft Teams notifications, your message from Matter says "Recognition message kept in Matter for privacy. Open it to read and review." Tap Open in Matter to read and review it. The review window also reminds you: "Check for private details, like health or account information, before it posts."

Coins are per person, up to the most the code allows, and no more than 100,000 (Pro and Enterprise).
Notes waiting for review never expire. They stay in Recognition to Review even if the code is paused or deleted. See Managing your recognition QR codes.
