Matter app disappeared from your Slack sidebar

Matter missing from your Slack sidebar? Your workspace is still active. Open it through MatterBot, then set Slack to show all conversations so it stays visible.

Written by Sam Lepak

If Matter has disappeared from your Slack sidebar, your Matter workspace is still active, and nothing has been removed. Slack hides channels and apps from your sidebar when they haven't had any new activity in the past 30 days. This often happens to members who mainly open Matter to check their coins or redeem rewards.

For signing in from a browser instead, see How to log in to the Matter web app dashboard.

Open Matter from Slack

  1. Open your Matter channel in Slack. If it isn't in your sidebar, search for it by name in the search bar at the top of Slack.

  2. Click the MatterBot name or icon on any Matter message.

  3. Click Go to App.

This opens the MatterBot Home tab, where you can click Redeem Reward or Go to Matter Dashboard.

Keep Matter in your sidebar

Slack filters your sidebar to Active only by default, which shows only conversations with new activity within the last 30 days. To keep Matter visible:

  1. Click your profile picture in the bottom left corner of Slack.

  2. Click Preferences.

  3. Click Home.

  4. Under Filter conversations by, select All.

Note: This setting only changes your own sidebar. Anyone else on your team who's missing Matter needs to change it in their own Slack.
