Change the name of Feedback Friday

Learn how to rename Feedback Friday to match your company, your team's culture, or the day of the week your ritual runs.

Written by Sam Lepak

Feedback Friday™ is Matter's weekly recognition ritual, but it doesn't have to be called Feedback Friday. You can give it any name you like, and the new name is used throughout your Matter experience.

Default names by day of the week

By default, the ritual name follows the day you run it on. If you change the day under Frequency & Day, the default name changes to match:

  • Monday: Motivation Monday

  • Tuesday: Thank You Tuesday

  • Wednesday: Winning Wednesday

  • Thursday: Thankful Thursday

  • Friday: Feedback Friday

You can also run the ritual on a Saturday or Sunday. There's no day-specific default name for the weekend, so you'll want to set your own.

Rename your ritual

  1. Open the Web App.

  2. Go to Settings, then the Feedback Friday section.

  3. Scroll down to Advanced Settings.

  4. Under Ritual Name, type your new name.

  5. Click Save at the bottom to confirm your changes.

Tip: After renaming, check your message text so the kickoff, reminders, and recap use the new name too. See Customizing Feedback Friday message text.

Naming ideas

A custom name is one of the easiest ways to make the ritual feel like part of your company instead of a tool you installed. A few approaches that work well:

Put your company name in it. Pair your company or team name with the day for a ritual that's unmistakably yours, like Acme Wednesdays or Acme Thank You Thursdays.

Tie it to a company value. If you have a value like ownership or customer obsession, name the ritual after it so every week reinforces it.

Lean into alliteration. Names that match the day are easy to remember and fun to say: High Five Friday, Shout-Out Thursday, Kudos Tuesday.

Use your team's own language. Inside jokes, mascots, and team nicknames all make great ritual names. If people already say it in the hallway, it will stick in Slack or Microsoft Teams.
