Member data properties allow you to segment and organize the members of your organization beyond organization/team structures. This powerful feature is especially useful for creating segments that can be applied in recognition, rewards, and survey analytics, enabling you to gain deeper insights into your workforce.

Default Properties

Matter provides several default member properties, including:

  • Date of Birth

  • Ethnicity

  • Gender

  • Hire Date

These properties help you start with a basic set of data for organizing your members.

Custom Properties

You also have the flexibility to create custom properties to suit your organization's unique needs. Common examples of custom properties include:

  • Job Title

  • Work Location

  • Salary

  • T-Shirt Size

You can get creative and define properties that matter most to your organization’s operations.

Property Types

When creating custom properties, Matter supports various property types to ensure your data is structured correctly:

  • Date: Ideal for tracking dates like start dates or promotion dates.

  • Choices: Create predefined options for a property, such as office locations.

  • Text: Use free text to capture information such as member names or custom labels.

  • Numeric: Useful for numerical data like employee numbers or years of experience.

Linking Properties to Members

Each member in Matter has their own set of member properties linked to their user profile. You can manage these properties in two ways:

  1. Manually Add or Upload Data: You can manually enter member properties or upload a file to bulk update the data.

  2. Map to Your HRIS: Streamline your data management by mapping member properties directly to your HRIS platform, ensuring automatic and accurate syncing.

How to Access Properties

  1. Open the Web App.

  2. Go to Channel Settings, then the Properties section.
